It was a heart pounding drive. A couple of times we reached seemingly impassible sections but I managed to squeak around the boulders till we reached this point high up above the glacier. If you look closely, our truck is on the right hand side of the photo.
BTW, the glacier looks grey as it has retreated a lot in the past few decades and is now covered in a thin layer of rocks. To see the clean ice we would have had to walk about the same distance again as we had already driven. That will have to wait for another day.
