Heading Down

As we headed down, the sun lowered and the ice turned a vivid blue.

I found a limpet in the pocket of my rucksack. I must have picked it up last time I was at the beach. I threw it out and joked that it might give a glaciologist something to think about. A few minutes later someone came running past shouting that he had found a shellfish on the ice. 'That's amazing' I said with a straight face. 'How on earth could that happen?'

Sarah managed to keep from laughing but gave me the evil eye!
